Join the Women’s Health Services Network (WHSN) for a critical conversation on addressing violence against women with disabilities. This online event, titled Bringing the Margins to the Mainstream, will bring together key voices and evidence-based strategies that highlight what works in preventing violence against one of the most vulnerable groups in our community.
Women with disabilities experience violence at disproportionately higher rates compared to those without disabilities. This violence is compounded by intersecting factors such as ableism and sexism, which demand nuanced and targeted prevention strategies. Our discussion will explore these intersectional drivers and share proven practices that can drive real change.
Keynote speakers (TBA) and women with lived experience will share insights on:
- The root causes of violence against women with disabilities.
- How we can embed long-term sustainable actions in our communities to prevent this violence.
- The importance of elevating the voices of women with disabilities in shaping these prevention efforts.
Additionally, we will formally launch WHSN's 2025 Budget Call to Action and Submission, which advocates for the statewide expansion of the Margins to the Mainstream program. This proven model builds the confidence, knowledge, and leadership of women with disabilities and equips organizations with the tools to prevent violence. Together, we aim to scale up this program across Victoria to ensure that all women with disabilities live free from violence and discrimination.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a vital conversation that centers the experiences of women with disabilities and amplifies their leadership in creating safer, more inclusive communities.
