Acknowledgement Of Country

We respect First Nations peoples and their enduring connection to country – to the land, air, waterways, oceans, animals and plants – and recognise the wisdom and culture that has seen them thrive for thousands of years. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded, and, with humility and courage, wholeheartedly commit heads, hearts and hands to a path of healing, restitution and justice, embracing the wisdom of those who can guide us. We will fulfil our responsibility with honesty and integrity, we will challenge injustice, and - in all of this - we will hold ourselves accountable.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

1 in 5 women experience depression and 1 in 3 experience anxiety. WHWBSW works to reduce this burden through gender-specific education, awareness and prevention.

Women's Mental Health and Wellbeing

Mental health is a state of wellbeing in which an individual realises their own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, contribute to their community, connect with people, place and nature and interact with others in healthy ways.

It is estimated that approximately 1 in 5 women in Australia will experience depression and 1 in 3 women will experience anxiety during their lifetime.

WHWBSW aim to reduce the burden of mental health for women by enhancing gender-specific mental health education, awareness and primary prevention. We support and encourage access to mental health services for priority populations across the Barwon South West.
